ACTS Retreats

What is an ACTS Retreat?

An ACTS Retreat is a three-day, three night Catholic retreat presented by lay men and women, with spiritual direction provided during the weekend by Oblates and/or Spiritual Directors. Retreats for men, women, and youth are given separately. Talks and activities focus on Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service (ACTS). Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are the guides for the retreats. The retreats goals are to strengthen your faith and its application in your daily life, to renew yourself spiritually and to build lasting friendships. Retreatants return to their parishes and churches with a deeper love for each other and a desire to become more involved in their parish faith communities. The retreat facilitates the attainment of a new or deeper relationship with the Lord through:

Testimonials

"This is my fourth ACTS weekend and each experience has been a unique get together with the Holy Spirit. On this most recent retreat in February 2008, forty men joined a team of thirty team members to become closer to God. "Wherever two or more of you are gathered in My Name, I'll be there." A brotherhood was formed that will last a life time and this brotherhood clearly included Jesus. Many of the men who resisted coming to the retreat in the first place, were wondering why they resisted this opportunity. Everyone says the weekend was absolutely awesome, and it was from my viewpoint."

"So many things struck me about the weekend, but one of the biggest feelings, which I've never experienced before at a retreat, is the sense of brotherhood I felt with the group of men that was together. It really helped me to imagine what the beginning church was like, and the love that Jesus shared with his friends, and the bond that was formed between them all when He left this world. This struck me again last night as I watched the Passion movie, and saw the Last Supper. It brought me back to Saturday evening of the retreat, which was so precious in so many ways"

"Family, friends and my job never allowed me to take time out for myself, to take a good look at my life, in reality or spirituality. The weekend allowed men to be human. It helped me realize that there are others that have similar challenges in life and can be there to help work things out. We had great conversations and shared stories of how we can fit God into our everyday lives and what a difference it makes. I have never laughed and cried so hard in such a short period of time!"
